Volume = interior length × width × height. If the cabin includes a glass door or window, add roughly 25% to the calculated cubic footage to compensate for radiant heat loss. Larger uninsulated cabins or cabins with multiple glass surfaces should step up to the next kW size.

Xenio vs. Fenix Control — Which Should You Pick?

Harvia is currently producing two parallel generations of digital sauna controls, and you can buy either with this heater on the package tiers above. Both control families ship UL/ETL listed for U.S. installation, both work with the Harvia WiFi mobile app, and both deliver the same core scheduling and remote-start functionality. The differences matter most if you are specifying for a new build today and want to be on the platform Harvia will continue developing.

Xenio (current production)

The Xenio family is Harvia's long-running digital control platform. It has years of field history, a deep installed base, and is the default choice on most current Harvia documentation. The CX30 / CX45 power units cover the full residential heater range, with the CX30C variant required for Combi (steam + sauna) heaters. The optional CX004WIFI remote panel adds smartphone control and scheduling through MyHarvia.

Fenix (next-generation)

Fenix is Harvia's newest control platform and will eventually replace Xenio across the line. Fenix ships standard with WiFi built in (no remote-kit upgrade needed), uses a touchscreen interface (FX001XW / FX002XW), and is the platform Harvia is investing in long-term. If you're specifying for a remodel or new build today and want the longest-runway platform, pick the Fenix package tier.

240V vs. 208V — Which Voltage Do You Need?

Most U.S. residential saunas run on 240V single-phase power, the same circuit type used by an electric dryer or stove. If you are wiring a new dedicated circuit in a residential build, 240V 1-Phase is almost certainly the right choice. 208V three-phase is a commercial distribution voltage used in offices, hotels, gyms, multi-family buildings, and most light-commercial settings. If the sauna will be installed in a commercial space, pick a 208V 3-Phase configuration. Not sure? Ask your electrician to check the panel feeding the install location — commercial 208V 3-Phase panels have three "hot" busbars; residential 240V 1-Phase panels have two.

Stones

Virta packages include AC3020 standard olivine diabase stones (10–15 cm) sized for the kW model.

Installation & Electrical Requirements

The 6.0 kW unit requires a dedicated 240V 1-Phase circuit wired by a licensed electrician. All Harvia electric heaters are UL/ETL listed and must be installed per the included manual and local electrical code. Install clearances vary by model — consult the PDF manual linked below before framing-in.
